Hurks Vastgoedontwikkeling and W.P. Carey announced last Friday that Hurks completed the construction of the FrieslandCampina Innovation Centre, located on the campus of the University of Wageningen and sold the property the same day for 31 million Euro to W.P. Carey.

Royal FrieslandCampina, with a turnover of over 10 billion euro one of the largest dairy companies in the world, leases the building from W.P.Carey.
Dairy company Royal FrieslandCampina will establish its new European innovation centre. The complex can accommodate about 400 FrieslandCampina employees.

Hurks developed and implemented the innovation. Hurks and Royal FrieslandCampina jointly invested 70 million euros in the complex. The innovation of FrieslandCampina includes research facilities , laboratories, a pilot plant and offices and contains a total area of nearly 20,000 m2 .

The innovation center is equipped with sustainable energy concepts , such as heat / cold storage , photovoltaic cells and a sustainable climate control system . This matches the ambition of FrieslandCampina to reduce the use of energy water and waste by 20 percent in 2020 and the use of 100 percent renewable energy. FrieslandCampina aims to obtain a BREEAM certification with a label ‘Very Good’.

Regarding the lease negotiations 3stone Real Estate acted on behalf of FrieslandCampina. Concerning the sale of the property 3stone acted on behalf Hurks Vastgoedontwikkeling and found W.P. Carey as buyer.
